"When life is in dischord, praise ye the Lord"

Any takers on today's song?

Today really didn't start out so well. My feet hurt like the dickens and I was pooped, so I opted to skip on the sheet cake and sleep. I set the alarm for 5:30, figuring we needed to leave around 7:30. If you laughed at the last sentence and thought "Yeah, you didn't get up." you would be absolutely correct. So, I opted for more sleep. Ugh.

As was predicted, about 5 minutes up the road from Kroger, I was really peeved with myself for just not making the dog gone cake, as I have yet to actually make anything for a potluck. I'm sure it sounds silly and petty, but I really wanted to make that cake. So after I finished crying for a few miles, I sniffled and said "well, at least I can make a nice cake for your relatives next weekend and surprise them with that..."

and guess what.

It ain't a surprise, coz Matt told them. Granted, I'm not mad, because I never specified that I wanted it to be a surprise. But I guess Matt's mom pulled a "what are you bringing?" question out of her hat and Matt replied with the cake. Being as I'd spent the better part of the week being so happy that I was going to do something unexpected and nice for Matt's relatives, this news brought on round two of waterworks.

Five minutes later, I decide to fix my makeup, which by now is resembling an emo goth. So, after remembering this morning that I could not find my makeup and that it was in Matt's car after our VA roadtrip ... I begin searching for it. I find it...and...it's...it's...in varying degrees of a melted mess that not even Picasso would enjoy. Now, it's not that I'm a makeup fiend or anything. I just really really liked this particular makeup kit, that I got on clearance for $5.00 at Ulta. Cue round three.

From there, the day mercifully got better. I had the opportunity to go down to Detroit with Rochelle to deliver another load to the lady with six kids who is without stuff. In true Sarah form ... It's been a while ... I should have seen it coming ... I tripped up the stairs and fell. While my knees took the brunt of it, I did still manage to land on my wrist, so I iced it tonight just as a precaution. It's stiff, but I'm trying to be optimistic that it'll be okay. I would like to mention though ... Some close members of her family, including some children, were in a very serious car accident and could really use prayer. One of them was ejected from the car ... I can't even imagine.

Anyway, when I got home, Matt handed me a bag. Inside was a makeup kit similar (possibly even better) than my recently melted one. The boy had gone directly from church and walked into Ulta by himself, holding the melty makeup kit, and asked someone how to replace it. Isn't that incredibly sweet and thoughtful?!?! I couldn't believe that he would do that. I am absolutely floored. (and I could use a different color eyeshadow every day for at least six weeks without repeating!)

So I made Matt, Karen and I some grilled cheese (mine with sharp cheddar and tomato on wheat ... mmm) and some decaf coffee for Rochelle, and got to read a bit of my new book while watching my laptop defrag. (Day 4 ... 59%)

Since this entry is already a lengthy mess ...
I got a new book over the weekend! I'm such a geek, and I love it. I got "The Six Wives of Henry the VII", and it's a fantastic book. I keep trying to read a few fiction novels so that I can justify buying a history book now and then, but it's not working very well ... I'm absolutely captivated with the history books and the fiction just isn't compelling me very much lately.

With that ... It's time for bed. Well, ok, so I'm going to sit here for another ten minutes while I draft up a rough "to do" list so I don't think about it later. Then it's bedtime.

Paperthin Hymn by Anberlin.

Sorry you had a rough Sunday - I think there may have been something in the air - mine wasn't so great either. Glad it ended well though!
