Overall, I found the story interesting. Her life was really tragic - husband that didn't love her, he took up her best friend as his mistress, she was a compulsive gambler, low self esteem, etc ... However, the author spent a little too much time dealing with all the politics of the period. Well, maybe that's not true - I mean, it was a very politically charged time. But her writing isn't as engaging as Alison Weir, so the sections where she went off on politics came off as extra dry. (Like coughing up dust, at points...)

Still an interesting read, though. Not something I'll re-read, unfortunately.
